This
is the section for any of my relatives, 55 and older, to
have a short story of their life and times posted for their
children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and future
generations to know them better. Think about it for a
minute. Wouldn't it been great if your parents,
grandparents, and great-grandparents had left a short story
about how it was for them growing up when they did, what was
important to them, what changes that occurred during their
life were good -- and what changes were bad.
Anyone know anything
about my grandfather Schultz' father George or mother
Martha? How about their parents? How about Gram Lyon's
parents? Gramp Castillo's family? What about the generation
before Paul and Kate VilleMonte?
Would any of you
value having a written testimony from your grandparent's
hand, telling what they thought of growing up at a time that
they did? The Civil War, the trip coming over from Europe,
.......
This is your chance for the future to know how you feel
about your short time on Earth. If this opportunity was
available 100 years ago on the Internet, these stories would
still be here today. You would have no doubt printed your
great-grandparents story, neatly folded it, and kept it in
the center of the huge Bible. Well your great-grandchildren
will do the same (except they will burn a CD-ROM of the
entire website) and your story will continue to live long
after we are all gone.
Do not be bashful.
Do not sugarcoat it, do not suck up -- just let your heart
tell your story the way it actually is and was. However, you
need to also remember that once a story has been told, it
can never be taken back. That is to say, that once read - it
will be remembered. Choose your words wisely, so none of the
living are hurt!
I only ask that
you use your return key only to start a new paragraph, use
both upper and lower case letters, and do not hyphenate.
I will cut and paste your story onto a web page -- and will
not edit it. I have enough of a problem with my own
spelling, grammar, and typos to be checking those of others.
I suggest that you use a spelling and grammar checker --
like that in Word. I would also suggest that you find the
happy medium between getting as much of your story that
should be told in print -- while understanding that the
longer that it is, the fewer people will initially read it.
I guess I'm suggesting a short-story and not War and Peace.
However, I will post your story regardless of how long or
how short it is.
The below buttons
are of the life and times submitted -- in the order they
were submitted.
