Default Your favorite movie & why?

So what movie is your fave & why so? I know its a little tuff to narrow it down to one (for alot of us), so if you have to list more than one- do it in seperate posts.

For me, it would be El Dorado starring John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, & James Caan. Released in 1967 & done by the great Howard Hawks.

The plot is just great- helping your friends no matter what the price, because its the right thing to do, is important to me personally. All the characters are well-written, & the actors all have a good on-screen charisma together.

Just about anything starring John Wayne. El Dorado stands out as does True Grit, Rooster and The Shootist.

Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. the remake with Steve Martin. Very funny stuff. Of course different genres, different favorites.
War movies? We Were Soldiers. Hands down the best.

Favorite movies, too many to list, and depends on the ear,and the subject matter. As for todays crap coming out of Hollyweird, nothing that I've seen trailers on that would make me run out and buy a ticket to see.I usually wait till they hit HBO,Showtime,or Cinamax. The last movie I saw on the "big screen" was "Open Plain" one the best westerns ever made.

Of the movies I like, few have won awards, and I never seen them on other's favorites list. However, for some reason, when they are on television, I find myself watching them over and over.

A Gathering of Eagles
North to Alaska
12 O'Clock High
Memphis Belle
Strategic Air Command
Sideways

Mine is really a Mini-series. Lonesome Dove.

I really liked Second Hand Lions that the guys at Moparstyle recommended.
Guess I like Robert Duvall.

Cold Mountain was good too.

I have never seen Casablanca or Gone with the Wind.....seriously. I've tried to find them to rent, but no luck.
