He makes himself known to us
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1
On July 21st news stations reported that astronomers have found the heaviest star ever discovered. It's 165,000 light years away from our Milky Way galaxy. This star is over 300 times bigger than our sun, and is 10 million times brighter. That's an amazing discovery, but what is even more awesome to me is knowing that the God I worship each day is the one that created this star and the universe that surrounds it.
The Bible tells us that God is Love. He created all this because he had so much love, that he wanted a place to put it. God is active in the world, and he has chosen to make himself known to us. He chose each one of us to share in his creation and to experience his love. God's love for us is perfect, but sometimes we fall short in returning his love. The good news is that in God's world, when we fall short or when we make mistakes, he has already created a way to pay for our mistakes and forgive us our shortcomings through the blood shed by his Son Jesus.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, creator and sustainer of this beautiful world, I thank you for loving me and sending your Son Jesus, as the atonement for my sins. Help me this day to live my life in a way that is worthy of the love you've shown for me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Note... I won't be home on Saturday morning, so I am posting this 7/31 devotion a little early.
