Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
I heard a rumor that the big money cars didn't get paid at the Midland, TX AHRA Reunion -- and were told the money would be wired to them. Then I heard they're going to cancel the San Antonio race this week.
I haven't seen anything on their web site mentioning either. AHRA HOME
I guess it was a good this that the guy acted like a jerk when I called him about NSS -- and I quickly gave up trying to get them to do something with NSS.
Update -- now their web site says that they're canceling because of weather.

SAN ANTONIO RACE CANCELLED DUE TO UNSTABLE WEATHER
May 20th, 2010 11:10 P.M. PST
The AHRA Reunion Tour race to be held at San Antonio Raceway May 22-23rd was cancelled due to extreme unstable weather patterns in Texas and the surrounding states. AHRA and Desert Thunder Raceway fought off tornados and torrential rainfall last weekend realizing that roads were unsafe and impassable for out-of-town participants and spectators to attend. At the time this decision was made we were receiving reports that areas near and around San Antonio had received 11 to 14 inches of rain and the extended forecast was calling for a 60% chance of showers and thunder storms during the scheduled event. We will be working with San Antonio management in an attempt to re-schedule this race. We hope to have an update on the status of this race next week.
Hello this is my first post here and drag racing and politics are my favorite subjects. Concerning the AHRA, you can't run a racing series without any funding. My guess is they talked a good game hoping that every race would gross enough money to keep it going. kind of like a low buck racer hoping to make enough money at one race to be able to enter the next race.
Does anyone know what the turnout was like at the first race as far as cars and fans go? there no news coverage on the net, not even on their own site! Did the race even have a conclusion and winners?
I know there was a lot of rain at the Midland race -- but they claim they got it finished. However, I saw no attendance numbers or who the winners are. Then again their media coverage appears to have been done by a 5th grader that will never win a spelling bee.
Another site has the rumor that the Calgary track has now pulled out.
Looks like rotting meat to me.
It would appear that they were hoping that a good reputation from back in the 60s was going to trump no money and a questionable reputation in the last twenty years. Combine that with bad timing. From what I've seen and heard -- I think the east coast connection of the AHRA had it together, but the Pacific connection did not.
Bad timing too. Hell proven NASCAR and NHRA drivers can't get sponsorship -- no one is going to take a chance and spend money on the unproven.
It would be nice to see this survive, don't know if it will gets wheels or not.

“It got bad in Midland, [there was] weather with tornadoes and floods and unfortunately people died,” Moe explained. “Cars were up to their doors with water and the track was under four inches of water, with mud and debris. We stayed there and made it work. The race went smooth and we had no spectators because essentially the whole state of Texas was under siege with passing storm cells.
I don;t know about any of Y'all, but I have never seen a drag race run when the track was 4" under water.
