Default NMCA Tracks For 2011

Rumors – NMCA 2011 Tracks

Aug 30 Dave's Reports

The rumors have been flying on what tracks NMCA will be running next year.

One rumor is that Maple Grove is out. Nice track — but terrible draw and the PA State Police have been targeting trailers 28′ and longer, or with lettering — and giving tickets for no CDL.
Bradenton Sux — and all of the racers hate the track, the drive, and the sand in their carbs. Recent rumor was that Commerce, GA was going to replace it.
Then Zmax happened. Talk around the pits is that even combining NMCA and NMRA — the economics doesn’t work for Zmax. The event had the track and track personnel 100 times better this year than last year — but it still was a ghost town. Not enough racers for the far East tracks. So the rumor is that Commerce is going to take the place of Zmax. That might mean that replacing Bradenton gets put on the back burner (how about HRP or Gainesville for the first race!).
Gateway appears to be dead meat. Smart money is saying that they’ll announce their closure after the NMCA race at the end of September.
Word is that the bad luck on rain in Bowling Green in March/April might get that race moved to later in the year.
So by my count you have three races (Maple Grove, Zmax, and Gateway) going away, with Bradenton having racers wish it would go away — and only Commerce being talked about coming on board. I think NMCA has learned its lesson on East Coast races not drawing racers — so we’re safe from having that shit hole ATCO rearing its ugly head.
NMRA tested Houston last November, and they and NMCA are testing it this November. It isn’t a really fair test since they do it when most northern racers have their cars in moth balls and it is a non-points event — but maybe they’ll take that into consideration. You need a Southern track to start the year and end the year — and Houston Raceway Park is an excellent track — especially in March or October.

Dave, some good thoughts there. A couple of tracks to keep us out of the northeast are Indy and Columbus. We raced at Columbus with 3 organizations over the years and I always liked it ok. I have also raced at South Georgia and Reynolds over the years. Not sure if they are money makers or not. I think Gainsville would be okay but DON"T think of going to West Palm Beach. Went once for a NSCA race and it was junk and no crowd. Hope they can get us a good schedule as I would like to get back to racing more, but I'm not going up east or to ZMax.

Columbus doesn't have many fans.

I'd like to see them ultimately replace the first race at Bradenton with Houston. It is not further than Bradenton for 90% of the people, and closer for many. It would also get a few Texas boys involved in the series -- and suck them for at least another race if they hit the semis.

No Problem,in Belle Rose,LA(Baton Rouge area) is a real nice track.Owned by the Teutons.Long shut down, nice facilities for drivers, and crew, and been known to drop below sea level with the right temp, and air.I've heard other drivers say their car has ran it's best there

Belle Rose will never happen. Tony has the NMCA people convinced that you can't make money there. That topic has been brought up and quickly shut down. Houston use to get shut down as quick until they were mildly surprised at the NMRA draw last year. If we can get a good NSS count -- it has a chance.

I'd like to see Gainesville -- but my understanding is that the money is miles apart.
