Default Who runs a Moroso Vacuum Pump

Who runs a Moroso vacuum pump?

Here's my problem

I have a Moroso pump that blows oil out of the breather on top of the collection tank. I use to run the original vent that went on the opposite valve cover of the hose going to the pump, and that vent would hold spacers with different apertures to regulate flow. I replace that with the Rehr Morrison in-line regulator -- but still have oil blowing out of the breather.

There is maybe about a half shot glass in the tank per run -- and I estimate another 1/2 shot glass that blows out of the breather. I don't think I'm letting too much air in -- and I'm told an ounce total of oil isn't unreasonable.

It is like there should be a baffle between the tank and the breather -- but it didn't come with one.

So who else is running a motor similar to mine in HP, who also runs a vacuum pump? How much oil is collected per round? Do you have a problem with oil coming through the breather? What do you suspect my problem is?

I run one............without any fuss or bother.............simple vent on one side(holley jet) and a puke tank..........we drain the tank about once a month when we run the car..........all is well.............but we do put fresh strips in the pump about every 2 years..............

is there a baffle between the breather and the tank to keep the oil from wanting to come through the breather?

No, no baffle there..........but we have worked a bit on placement of the line from the valve cover to the pump to prevent pulling too much oil from that area.

Maybe I'm sucking to much out of the crankcase and need to put a bigger pulley on.

What does your gage show? We have around 13 in vac at around 6000 rpm.

I don't have a vacuum gauge on it. Someone is telling me that there is a tab style of baffle between the breather and the tank. I don't have anything like that.

Where do you put a vacuum gauge at?

No gage?.........how in the hell do you set the amount of vac ?.........it's a wonder that the wrist pins are still in the thing...........we have ours plumbed in the rear of the right valve cover and the gage is inside the car.........

Just had the same trouble with mine, but first time out so I'm looking for the answer too. Just finished a 452 Mopar alcohol dragster engine. No problem on two i/8 mile runs, but blew oil everywhere on 1/4 mile. tried all day today to talk to MOROSO. No luck. I see separators for between valve cover and pump and regulators. This is my first vacuum pump.
