About a week ago, I wrote the President of the AHRA to tell him about the 100 or so people east of the Rockies who are racing NSS/FX under a set of Universal Rules that were written and agreed upon by representatives of three of four organizations currently running NSS/FX races.
The below is his reply:

My name is Rod Saint and I am the President of the AHRA. I received your email regarding the NSS program you are affiliated with and I have been looking into your rules for the NSS / Factory Experimental classes. As you may be aware, the AHRA had regular classes for the Factory Experimental cars and I think there are plenty of individuals who would love to see this type of class added to our program. I would like to present this to my partners to have your rules added to our program of classes so that we can offer the FX once again. If you have been keeping up with the current web site and our rules process, you will know that we are currently asking the racing community to help us complete the rules by offering comments and suggestions. I have been trying to put suitable rules together for FX and would like to know if you would object to your rules being implemented into our program should we elect to establish this type of class? I look forward to hearing from you regarding these rules.
Respectfully Rod Saint

I'm fixin to go on a cruise and won't be back until mid January -- so I thought I'd make this post, and provide the link to Rod.
This is your opportunity to contact tour fellow NSS racers, and ask for them to lobby on behalf of AHRA having a NSS/FX class, that adopts the rules which were hammered out after many years of learning from racing in the class.
In the meantime, while NSS racers are posting their opinions and maybe answering any questions regarding the class -- here's a couple of NSS videos to show what we're about.
Looking over their classes they appear to be going the way of NHRA's SUper Stock -- and they had FX broken up into many classes -- of which I don't even know where my car would fit. It looks like I'm to modified for their Super Stock -- and not altered enough for the Nostalgia FX.
I'm hoping they might they have made too many pigeon holes for Nostalgia to attract a full 16 per class -- and might reconsider this year -- or at least next year if they find they spread thing too thin.
Hopefully they will see the presence we were giving NMCA (I say were -- since a lot of drivers in the staging lanes for the 2nd round at Memphis claimed that they were done running the NMCA series) and recognize the NSS/FX is the way to go -- as opposed to spreading that too thin. If it is too late for AHRA to adjust for this year -- hopefully they'll watch how organized NSS/FX runs, and work it in next year.
I was asked to email rules and proposed changes to rules@ahra.com -- and the below is what I sent.
Quote:
NSS/FX is a class with over 100 active racers east of the Rockies. The below rules had representatives from NMCA, Texas Outsiders, Midwest Nostalgia Super Stock Association, and National Nostalgia Super Stock association get together and come up with one set of rules that they would adopt – along with the rules adopted by tracks for their local Nostalgia events.
The negotiations were painful to all – as there was a lot of compromise done by long time and stubborn racers who felt like their organization was most true to original spirit of NSS. NSS got started about 1980 – and each organization (because of politics – often of letting a friend of a sponsor race) morphed the rules a little. Four years ago – we were running into too many problems with what cars should qualify – and who might have an advantage – so the below rules were a one-time compromise for the sake of standardization – and it was agreed that future rule changes would not only be kept to a minimum – but mainly for safety with moving away from the spirit of the class. We don’t want small blocks, Dominators, sheet metal intakes, Lencos, transbrakes, electronics, power adders, 12-14” wide slicks, Rack and pinion front ends, carb/motor changes from available with the car, or other changes away from the spirit – to allow one more person in.
The below rules will have well over 100 cars immediately qualify, those same cars racing other events under those rules – and not wanting to race when the spirit of the class is compromised.
Consider the class and the rules – and you will immediately have a full class of racers ready to come race this year. Assuming you get details out soon. Some of these racers have been racing NMCA http://www.fasteststreetcar.com/ , and they have already announced their 2010 schedule and all (none in the case of NSS/FX) rule changes.
I'm fixin to be in the South Caribbean from Saturday to the 11th -- so that's about all I can do.
I'm getting the feeling that they might still be able to consider NSS/FX for this year as they haven't announced much of anything yet (rules, classes, point calculations, date for one of the tracks,...) , have added yet another track, -- so cross you fingers and maybe voice your support of NSS/FX in AHRA.
The love the races in Lousianna, Oklahoma, San Antoinio, and Ohio -- but I wonder how difficult bringing a transports the size of mine into Ontario. We all have passports, can leave the guns home, maybe find a place for the dogs, and we don't do drugs -- but I still can't imagine them not tearing my rig apart.
To: American Hot Rod Association Subject: Eliminator structure
In response to your invitation of open comment and suggestion for eliminator and class structure, we are advocating inclusion of Nostalgia Super Stock into your organization.
With a history of more than 20 years, NSS is now proven to be a popular eliminator which attracts both participants and spectators. In addition, we believe the eliminator has potential for high rates of growth in coming years and would be a good attraction for AHRA.
The NSSNA is a dynamic organization which has become the foremost authority for establishment of policy in the sport. Staffed by a committee of five current NSS racers, it also provides a forum for discussion and evaluation of current issues and at-the-track management for NSS events.
If you decide to include NSS in your eliminator offerings, we further suggest that you also adopt rules as published and administered by the NSSNA.
The current rule set is attached for your review and evaluation. Consolidated into a national format by NSSNA, these rules have been developed with the long-time experience of many individual racers, various clubs and organizations and have proven to be an effective way of managing competition in the sport.
For more information, discussion or questions, you can reach us via our contact specifics.
The NSSNA welcomes the revival of AHRA and looks forward to working with it to expand and improve the sport of drag racing.
With best regards, The committee: Doug Duell, Dave Duell Classic John Grinwald, Nostalgia Super Stocks Inc. Clay Kossuth, TexasOutsiders Jim Netherland, NMCA NSS series Bob Wilkiewicz, Nostalgia Super Stocks Inc.
