I'm trying to find the other 48 forums besides Old Hippie and MoparStyle. There are two NSS sites -- one that has news and another that allows for member participation with blogs, photos, videos, and communicating with each other.
Here's the problem when I ask NSS drivers why they don't post in this forum:
- Some of the Brand X guys didn't like the idea of it when it was on MoparStlye, and there was a board war keeping anyone who was a fan of Moparts from posting at MoparStyle -- so I moved it here.
- Now I hear that the political flavor of this board pisses of those who either don't follow politics or don't agree with the majority of the political posts - which obviously tend to be Conservative from Southerners -- while many NSS drivers tend to be from the more Liberal areas of the country. Fact is we get less NSS participation here then we did at MoparStyle, mainly because of the political forum.
To answer your question, No -- NSS won't move from here. It is my desire that just as some frequent two or more Mopar, Ford, Racing, or political boards -- that this Nostalgia Drag Racer's board will be another board for those of us here to frequent -- and may also attract those who want just a racer's forum without MoparStyle or Politics. It may also attract some Nostalgia Racers not running NSS -- who may also ultimately post over here and increase our racer participation. I personally intend to promote both boards for NSS racing.
It isn't so much that I had an abundance of time to waste on yet another project -- as I was out of town with my computer, unable to get to sleep, and without any other entertainment. So I experimented with a "Free Board" that I dug up while looking for something Damon's Diamondback and Fugly could migrate to, which would be maintenance free.
The thing I like about this ProBoard thing is that the price is right (it is free) -- and I don't have to maintain the software/server with frequent upgrades. It also has Intra-Board indexing -- drawing people from other ProBoards. I'm hoping to ultimately have a moderator for each forum and that it is they (and not me) who set the tone of that particular forum on that board. The drawback is that ProBoard advertises heavily (but I found how users can make it disappear -- that I'll share later) and their features are very limited.
The reason I made so many posts there already, is to get the ball rolling. Sadly, people are generally followers and not leaders. Too many just sit around waiting for everyone else to participate before they will lift a figure to jump in. I wanted to try to get the ball rolling with one or two posts in each forum, so that visitors might register and post to an existing thread -- and ultimately become so bold as to even create a new thread of their own (sarcasm).
A board's success is dependent on how quickly it can become active -- or else it gets visited one time, considered inactive, and not visited again. So if there is anyone interested in seeing a board of various classes of Nostalgia Drag Racing become active -- then be one of the leaders who help me get the ball rolling, so the follows decide it is worthy of their posting.
