DUMPSTERThis is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. While they'll most likely not be moved out out of the dumpster -- those posted to will gain a short reprieve of a month or two. Obviously no threads are to be started in this forum.
Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
Buddy Arrington is up there close to Number One for being the last to hang in there with Mopar.
AJ Foyt, even though a Ford man, had more balls than a Christmas tree. He could drive anything - but usually only entered the NASCAR Road Course races. I remember back in the late 60s he was racing at Riverside and had lapped the field at least once when he came in to the pit unannounced and jumped out of the car. Everyone (including his team was freaking out not knowing what the deal was -- but he walked over to some Ford Executive watching the race -- shook their hands, and ask how they thought he was doing. He then got back in the car and won the race.
In the 70s, there was a big Indy race at Texas World Speedway every year that we'd camp in the infield for. We always called it the AJ Invitational -- as he always won it. Great times with a Chili Cookoff and Wet T-Shirt Contests the night before the races. I was arrested on a Sunday morning for drinking a beer at 8AM. The cop told me I was in God's Country and took me to jail in College Station. I paid a $25 fine and got a $15 taxi ride back in time for the start of the race.
However, the King is my all time favorite. I have a regular shrine of autographed memorabilia of the King. I'll post photos of it in the future.
Curtis Turner,Fred Lorenzen 50/60s,Allison Bros,an Leroy 60/70s,Davy Allison,Bill Elliot,Dale Earhardt 80/90s
Then there's David Pearson, probably the smoothest drive I ever saw, just ask Richard Petty,Petty killed his engine,Pearson didn't,and won!!!

Dan, you forgot Lee Petty. When I was a kid, I used to go to the short tracks and dirt tracks and watch him.
He would haul a load of white liker from time to time when he needed some cash.
Sorry Dave but I've always thought the Pettys were over rated.Had "Big Bill" not banned Curtis Turner in 58 for trying to "unionize" to 65,I think he'd be way up on wins.Curtis could drive anything, poor old Richard couldn't,bad year in the Fords.
Richard Petty and Buddy Arrington are sentimental favorites, but for pure enjoyment to watch, it has to be Tim Richmond...and I miss the classy intensity of Alan Kulwiki.
I would go with Petty 1st and then Arrington , just cause he was such a diehard MOPAR guy. Next I like David Pearson. The silver fox was some driver back in the day, and when you considerm he didnt run full schedules , his record aint bad.
I liked Dale Sr off the trak, more than on. He seemed like a decent guy
Not following anymore, but I like Sterling but hes not so competative nowadays, but I just like the guy, Jimmy Spencer too.
I am hot and cold on Jr or Stewart. Depends on my mood. As I said, I stopped following it lately
