DUMPSTERThis is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. While they'll most likely not be moved out out of the dumpster -- those posted to will gain a short reprieve of a month or two. Obviously no threads are to be started in this forum.
Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
Monday -- reassemble water pump into the Coronet, assemble Demon's engine/transmission, start clean up the shop by sorting all of the new bolts/nuts/hardware thrown in any cubby instead of the one they're labeled for, and put back two months of parts and tools never returned to stock, front garage, trailer, etc.
Tuesday stab the engine and trans into the Demon and take everything out of the workroom to clean the benches and wash the floor
Yesterday (Dallas was in court all morning for a speeding ticket), burp the air bubble out of Coronet with MityVac (a new must tool for cars that has cooling system bubble problems), finish the Coronet and put on the rack to clean underside and replace shock this weekend, everything under the Demon hooked up and adjusted and the headers.
The shop is all clean and organized again (it was a mess from some little dipchit grinding in there (filling the room with opily metal filings) before sent packing), my car's log updated
Today, finish the Demon connections and rewired waterpump and fan with relays, spin up the oil pump, start and adjust. Friday Finish the Aspen, clean the tools and the open shop. Saturday, clean the underside of my car and hopefully install the shock. Sunday wash, wax, vacuum, and clean Lexan on Coronet and Cover. Monday do what I planned for Sunday -- because nothing goes smooth. Tuesday & Wednesday take black Coronet to get chassis certified detail under the hood of the red car.
The lifter on the lower left hand side of that picture looks to be at an angle, like the lifter bore is broken or the lifter is broke. Could just be the way the picture came out but I would be looking at the lifter bores VERY closely for cracks.
I never reuse a rod that got hot enough to blue up like that. Some people recondition and reuse them, but I would NEVER put that one back in a race engine. I wiped lots of #7 rod bearings on my old Ford FE's before I learned how to make them live. Hard lessons when you are as broke as I was back then.
Again it could be the way the picture came out, but unless it is some exotic piece, you may want to replace it. Cheap Insurance.
