DUMPSTERThis is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. While they'll most likely not be moved out out of the dumpster -- those posted to will gain a short reprieve of a month or two. Obviously no threads are to be started in this forum.
Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
Qualifying was to have started at 4PM but they could never get the track right. The let the fastest class go first -- and 3rd place of these low six-second cars was a 12-something. They just couldn't get down the track. They threw in the towel after about 8 of them made a pass.
They're going the bracket, LSX Shootsout, and True Street T right now -- and then we're up next. I need to get some race gas too as we're out.
I did the biggest wheelstand of my life -- and I sure hope they caught it.
I lifted a little at the end -- as I usually mph at 145 at 9.5
Dallas's car is breaking up bad. I need to go out and help he replace the ignition box with a new one I just bought. It is breaking up badly at about 5500. Cap and rotor look good, plugs and wires look good, timing was right on. We'll try a new box.
I think we have Dallas' car fixed. Replaced the box and coil -- and there was about a foot of 6 gauge wire with about 3 butt connectors in between 12 gauge going to the ignition switch -- and you could see the where it was burning at the butt connectors. I replaced that too, and replaced the top end 7600 chip just to make sure.
They are running LSX, Brackets and True Street right now -- and Charlie says that they be running until about 5. Then they're going to try to put some heat on the track (it is 47 degrees) with the Jet -- and then I think run the fastest classes first. That means we should be running around 9PM -- and the track should be so hosed that I'll be bouncing off both walls as we have a frost and a fog coming in. Suppose to be a freeze tonight.
I'm kinda hoping that they call it before they get to NSS/NMC and we run our 2nd Qualifying in the morning.
1:30 AM and we just finished thrashing on the cars. Dallas' wasn't fixed and still broke up at 5000 RPM. We changed the plugs and fattened up the carb all around by two jet sizes.
I have a radiator leak that I fixed by pinching off the row and laying a big blob of solder down on it. I'll try to find a new radiator when I get up -- or at least a low pressure cap to get me through.
I'm dead tired.
I ran my second qualifying at about 9PM.
Red Lit .032
****ty 60" from spinning 1.414
and 1/4 was 9.614 @ 141 which qualified me as 12 of 31
I run Glory Daze (Doug's old 64 Plymouth)
Dallas runs Al Wilson (Long Ram 60) and his 60 4-door Plymouth
Rumor is that Terry's got no oil pressure -- and I'll get a bye.
Doug has Clay (who didn't get to qualify because of a broke U-Joint) and the Princess has Calvin Hill who has a blown clutch and didn't qualify. Drivers complained because three non-qualifying drivers are on the tree -- but NMCA's position is that if they can't give driver's 3 qualifying passes -- they are automatically on the bottom of the tree.
Poor Skip, who is in third (Doug is in 1st, the Princess is in second, and I'm in 5th) says they ought to just lay him down and kick him.
I can't find a radiator anywhere, or a low pressure cap, or a can of stop leak -- so I poured a can of black pepper in the radiator and cut a rung out of the spring in the cap to take a little pressure off it. I seriously doubt I'll make it through the day with this radiator.
I run Skippy this next run -- and he's got lane choice. It makes a difference.
The winner of Skippy/I goes against The Princess/Radar.
Merrick lost to Millwood.
Ewing won -- I think against Rosie.
I really don't know who else won/lost yet.
If the Princess goes one more round than Doug Duell -- she wins. I think I'm in 4th now -- with Ewing nipping at my heals. I think I can grab third if I can beat Skip and go one more -- maybe if I just beat him as we throw out a race out of the last three. I don't think I can get 2nd even if the Princess losses next and I win the event.
The radiator help -- but I left colder than the car likes. It appears like the engine 1/64" closer to the radiator after that run. It will be a miricle if the crank doesn't knock that hunk of solder off the radiator. I can't believe AFCO is here -- without radiators!
