DUMPSTERThis is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
Just looking at the pricing for Memphis NMCA..... Thurs - Sun is $150.00. Fri - Sun is $105.00. It's $45.00 just to park, register and tech on Thurs.? No time trials? Sounds like a typical, NMCA rip-off ! Well, I have to use my Bowling Green rain out voucher. Guess it has to be now.......
Took the converter out of the Malibu today. Going to send it to Kenny Ford at PTC to get it straightened out. It's out, drained, bagged and boxed. Ready for UPS Monday. Two failed attempts at another vendor, is more experimenting than I can stand! Last "open-up and clean-out" added .3 seconds to my ET.. I hate, not having any cushion!
Tires I bought at Monster won't fit with the current rear end set-up (I knew they wouldn't, but they were cheap enough). After Memphis, it's going to Mike Hicks for mini-tubs. That extra couple of inches will allow me another inch of tire. Whoo-Hoo! a 10" tire!!! Don't think my current 9 inchers are going to make it through another race. Sure hate to buy another set for one race.
See all you guys (and gals) in a couple of weeks!

Yea, but all I'm gonna do is drop the rig, register/tech then go back to work! 45 bux is steep for a good parking place! I may come back and spend the night just to make me think I got my moneys worth!

I'm ready for another BBQ at the track. It sure taste's better at the track.

Thanks for the offers on tires, but 28x9 is as big as I can bolt on, with he current (stock) rear wheel wells. Going to break down and buy a set of new ones to finish out the year on. I did check out those 10x30 radials at your trailer, in St. Louis, Doug!
Mini tubs and a frame notch is the the off season plan. The the 10x29's I bought at Monster will bolt on. Already have the 5.5" backspace wheels.
Gabe and have discussed taking the 572 out. It's got two years on it. With the number of passes on it, I want to open it up and take a peek, but it goes totally against my grain. My moto, "If it's doing good, DON'T MESS WITH IT!". Runs great, no blowby, oil usage, metal in filter, etc..... I'm talking myself out of it as I type!
Plus, I think GM warranties the street crate engines for three years. I guess it's still got another year of warranty!!!!!!!
Steve, BBQ nachos from Sam Toon and Nitro Hog! Sounds good!
Got the Malibu back together, all left to do is top off the tranny fluid. Band was burnt up. I don't remember ever re-adjusting the band after a few runs. That's probabally what caused the premature (1.5 years) failue. Speaking of tranny fluid, this trans change, we didn't have a huge, bleeding, puddle in the shop. Wonder of wonders. Just one of many things (everything) that went right this week!
It was a strange week. Every single piece of the car came in ON TIME and 100% Correct!
*Pulled trans out over the weekend.
*Sent converter to PTC Monday - Came back Thursday!
*Carried trans to shop Monday, took them plantaries Tuesday (didn't need them) and rebuild kit Thursday, trans was ready Thursday afternoon!
*Ordered tires on Monday, they came in Thursday!
*Put everything together today, no boo-boos.
Kenny Ford at PTC really tightened up the converter! Hope it's not too tight, just the 50 degree trans fluid temp. It's cool here today!
I'm just not used to working on the race car. My Low-Maintenance-Malibu, has had to be worked on twice this year! It mostly just stays in the trailer!
Wash and load up tomorrow. We'll be ready for the world finals.
