DUMPSTERThis is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. While they'll most likely not be moved out out of the dumpster -- those posted to will gain a short reprieve of a month or two. Obviously no threads are to be started in this forum.
Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
Ok one and all. I know that this is a choice I have to make for myself. I understand the” follow your heart “and all that. But here is a choice I have struggled with for quite some time and would like some input from you all, as maybe some of you have been down this road before.
The choices are to restore/hotrod my 61 f-100 long bed or build my 64 Ford Custom 500 for drag racing (There are several tracks nearby, including Cecil County about 15 min. away).
I just was blindsided and lost my storage area and shop so now I’ll be building a garage. I won’t have funds, space or time for both projects. I realize that racing costs a lot more, but it will keep me off the streets (ha ha). I am leaning towards racing as I always wanted to do (legally) but would like to hear what some of you have to say. If it was up to my wife, she would sell them all!
Thanks & God Bless,
Ed

I have a 2001 F-150 7700 lb for towing car trailers, although my son is actively trying to buy it from me. I go back and forth, trying to figure some kind of budget for what it will cost me to finish the 64 and what I can expect to spend (not counting breakage) to run.
Thanks for your input!
UPDATE: Ok, I am keeping my 64s (all three) and selling the 62 Unibody and my 87 Monte SS (the token GM minority). I gave it a lot of thought and prayer and I cannot part with my dream. (Or the 64s). Unfortunately now, I lost my storage/shop and working on building a garage. (A in-law talked me out of doing so a year and a half ago because they had an empty shop 3 miles down the road that I can use as long as I wanted to!) So the race car is going to have to wait, money and time. I did pickup a real nice fresh 64 390 for it though. I am going to thin out some of the other projects and parts also to help pay for the garage. I am trying to stay out of debt! Thank you all for your help, believe it or not it wasn’t an easy decision. Although once made, seemed to be very obvious!
God Bless, Ed
P.S. My wife has been very reasonable and understanding about the whole deal, she's a blessing.
I would build the drag Galaxie..Nothing like going to the track and blasting down the 1320...Could bo a good experience you can share with your son as well..The 390 is a great choice to start with as well..
