Midwest Nostalgia Super Stock Series Gets Second Season

After a very successful inaugural season, Chris Schneider of the Muscle Car Reunion, and Drag Racing Online are happy to announce a second season for the Midwest Nostalgia Super Stock Series with more races and more tracks.

In 2010 Nostalgia Super Stock racers in the Midwest will have a five-race point series to determine a National Champion. Victory Performance Parts is the series title rights sponsor with Mickey Thompson Tires and Drag Racing Online as presenting sponsors.

The series consists of five races beginning with the Muscle Car Reunion race May 28-30 at St. Louis, followed by Cordova (IL) Dragway’s NostalgiaFest June 25-26, Eddyville (IA) Dragway July 16-17, then back to Cordova Dragway for the World Series of Drag Racing August 27-28 and the final race at Kansas City International Raceway September 17-19.

The series is open to 1959 to 1969, period correct, Super Stock cars with correct engine type, series approved multiple carbs, and series approved bodies.

Each event will feature a $2400 total purse with the winner taking home $1000 and a set of Mickey Thompson tires. Points will be earned at each event toward a season championship that will pay cash prizes for the six racers with the most points. The season points champion will win a $1000 cash prize, a Gold Championship Cup, and a Champion’s jacket from Drag Racing Online. The series champ will also receive a “gold card” good for free entry to all of the 2011 series events.

Series director Chris Schneider said, “I am very proud to have Victory Performance Parts, Mickey Thompson Tires and Drag Racing Online involved in the series. I expect the cars to do big burnouts, and big wheelstands that will entertain the crowds and hopefully show new fans why Super Stockers were so popular in the day.”

Excellent -- you need to list those dates at Events - Nostalgia Super Stock Racing -- which has every other major NSS event, and has been waiting for these dates to be announced.

Dallas and I have decided to run the NMCA events this year -- and instead run both the AHRA and this series - plus the Monster. The only conflict is September 17 -- so I guess it would depend on points.

I have heard of some complaints that NSS cars have been told they would be legal (there appear to not be defined rules and they've not agreed to adopt the "Standardized Rules") -- but then turned away when the arrived at Schnieder's races. I don't know the details, but it concerns me as I'd hate to commit to the series, make the long haul -- and then have some hyper-technical decision made to send one of our cars home. I'm not sure how I'd go about ensuring there wouldn't be a problem with either car. I'm also not a fan of bracket -- and prefer class -- but it is what it is.

No one has ever been told by me or a "Track Official" that they were OK and then turned away at the race. Don't ask your buddies, Call me if you have any doubts about being legal. I am easy to get on the phone. In alot of people's minds there is no difference between an index or a dial-in, you just level the field and make for a safer race this way. Cars are given a handi-cap start both ways. We have done it this way with great success and will continue to. If this is not your cup of tea, I understand.
