DUMPSTERThis is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. While they'll most likely not be moved out out of the dumpster -- those posted to will gain a short reprieve of a month or two. Obviously no threads are to be started in this forum.
Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
View Poll Results: What is your opinion of timing at NSS Events
I've been making calls for the last couple of days -- twisting arms to go to the AHRA race (more on that in another thread -- soon).
The topic of other calendars have come up -- and I've indicated that I (and Dallas) was strongly considering running a 5-race series in NSS. More than a couple of times -- I was told that they wouldn't run it because it was a bracket race and not a Class race or that they didn't adopt the "Universal Rules". While I would much rather run a Class than a bracket -- I don't know that it is a deal killer for me -- and I'm not real sure what differences in cars there is from the "Universal Rules". I believe that the Chrysler Classics is like that too -- but they're really not NSS -- but Nostalgia Wedge and Hemi races.
I asked why they do bracket timing and got a variety of reasons -- from the tower can't handle it -- to the promoter is convinced that he'll attract more NSS racers.
Now I don't want to stir up a hornets nest on this -- but it would appear that putting the Class' time on the car would get around the tower's issue of not being able to handle class racing -- and a poll would give the true opinions racers have on Class vs. Race.
So that said, if you have a car that is legal to run NSS -- please take the poll and give your opinion on timing at NSS type of events.
I voted INDEX...... BUT with that being said, I can race either way. Yes, it might attract a few more cars that are "stuck" between class indexes. After all, index racing is a "bracket race", without being able to change our dial ins......
My vote is:
D. None of he above... prefer index, but would race bracket......
I'm sort of the same way -- I'd much rather Class racing, but won't let bracket racing be the deal breaker. However, there are some who say it is the deal killer -- so I wonder if there's an equal number of those who come to those who won't?
Just to be the troublemaker I am.. I clicked don't give a rats ass.
It really wouldn't really matter to me, as long as I could put the foot to the floor I would be in. The only race I attended that I would be hesitant on going back was an index race on a .400 tree. That was tough.

I agree 100 percent! Foot braking on a .400 pro tree is really bad. Especially for the slower cars (like mine, 11.00).
For most events, especially open ones with large fields, the class/index system gives NSS a distinctive look and feel compared to routine bracket racing.
I believe it's important for NSS to maintain that uniqueness and be seen as more than regular bracket racing, to have something of that old-time class structure.

The best rules we've run under is the 422 Motorsports rules.
You can dial your own, but the dial has to end in a zero, and you can't change it once the event starts. It's challenging, interesting, and is a lot of fun.
