DUMPSTERThis is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. While they'll most likely not be moved out out of the dumpster -- those posted to will gain a short reprieve of a month or two. Obviously no threads are to be started in this forum.
Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
Is there a roster somewhere of who got the 55 Factory Super Stock Hemi Cudas in 1968? Is there some site that discusses the value of these cars?
My brother went to a "By Invitation Only" sale of a collection of 1500 high end cars being liquidated. He's a Ford guy and loading up on the Shelbys and Cobras -- and a GNX. However they have a factory 68 Hemi Barracuda for sale that he might be able to get a pretty good deal on -- and we might go partners in it. He hasn't been able to see what documentation there is -- or have the car inspected for indications of cloning, wrecks, or flat out wearing out from too many launches. They swear that car is authentic -- but that the race history is unavailable. I don't yet know what that means -- nor do I have the full number. It is a BO29 for the first 4 digits.
Anyway -- I need to quickly try to investigate what I can and would appreciate any links that might help me determine the value of the car -- and what to be looking for.
While doing a little research -- I see that some of these cars were backhalved to a 4-link latter in life. I'd have to think that would be a big hit on the value.
Yup my understanding is 55 BO29 Cudas and 50 BO29 Darts -- but I'd like to see if anyone compiled a history of who the 105 racers were by the VIN. The history is what makes or breaks the car. I can find out what dealers the Superbirds and Daytonas went to, and there's a list already on who owns the Drag Pak Challengers being produced -- there has to be a list of where these 105 cars originally went.
Dave as far as I know there is no list. Just like the Drag Pack Challengers, some were flipped as soon as they were delivered. There are lots of things about them that make that separate them from the pack. I posed on Moparstyle a contact for you.
A short list would be:
Corning glass
Disc brakes (not Kelse Hayes but something else)
Heater and radio delete. (I have both on one of my Cuda's)
Seat Belt strap to raise and lower windows
A100 seats.
No rear seat
Drivers door mirror delete plate
Spacers (i think 1/2") separating the K-Member from the frame (to lower engine for header clearance.)
Fiberglass Hood fenders and deck lid.
Modified Right Inner Fender (Beat with hammers) for clearance.

Dave, have your brother to get and hold onto the GNX . If you can find one that was not raced to death or modified they are a great keeper. It's funny that I went to the Buick Nationals in Bowling Green for years since it was only 28 miles from where I used to live for years. At the time I had a low miles 67 GS that I had bought new and would take my sons and we would go up for a day or two. There were 100s of the "Black Cars" racing and a few GNXs. Up through the mid to late 90s this was true. The last few years you started seeing fewer and fewer of the "Black Cars". Last year there was only a handful. Why? They are all too valuable to race, or the owners think so. It is a shame to me as it was nothing to see the V6s running in the 9s when Big Blocks of other brands couldn't do it without a lot of serious parts. People were driving the GNs to the track and running like that. I used to hate waiting for all to them to run, but now I appreciate them more. Hope you have good luck with the 68 Cuda deal. Would be a great find if real. Today it is "buyer-beware".

My brother is a big fan of GNs and GNXs and has had many. We both have low mileage GNs that we race each other with. Mine is a 86 with 34K and his is an 87 with 28K miles. Both have been tweaked with bigger injectors, regulators, 3" exhaust....
A GN is on my short list of dream cars. I want one pretty bad, but would want to daily drive it.
You see I graduated from HS in 1986......Guess which cars were kickin ass street racing. Ever since then I have wanted one. The Hurst Olds from that era are also on my list. Just loved that body style.
