DUMPSTERThis is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. While they'll most likely not be moved out out of the dumpster -- those posted to will gain a short reprieve of a month or two. Obviously no threads are to be started in this forum.
Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
Dave – During this preliminary period, NMCA and NSSNA are working together on words, phrasing and structure in several other sections. The goal is to make our rules as identical as possible.
There might be small differences in things such as race procedures (NMCA’s index declaration requirement) and paragraph structure in some sections (Suspension 3.4) for two examples.
However, the intent of both organizations in all fundamental rules will be the same.
The original plan was for both organizations to release the completed work on Dec. 12 based on NMCA’s need to have a completed document ready for the PRI show.
Now the latest idea is for NSSNA to release as soon as we have a final draft. I don’t know exactly when that will be, however, it might as soon as Monday and most likely within a week.
At that time, I will send you complete copies of both the stand-alone rule set and the revisions.
Looks pretty much what everyone was saying going to happen. The transmission being the only change -- but I hope they'll consider addressing the manual shifter too. Should only be one lever for forward gears. It just doesn't look Nostalgic having multiple rods.
I hope Crazy Larry doesn't take offense to my opinion -- because he's one of my favorite people, and his car is one of my favorite cars -- and I've never seen him at a NMCA race anyway.
There are other transmissions besides Lenco that can use Lightning Rods -- isn't there?
On shifters - I personally agree with your viewpoint and also as a committee member would support a one-handle requirement.
While I am usually reluctant to describe things in absolute terms, in NSS appearance is always a fundamental issue to me.
As far as I know at this point, multiple-handle shifters are not historically accurate. And there could be types of transmissions other than Lenco which use multiple rods, so a rule would have to cover all that.
But I am only one member. At this point, my best guess is that eventually one-handle could be a requirement supported by a majority but it will take some time to get there.

Dave a real set of Lightning Rods can be used on just about any Trans.
3 spd 4spd 5 spd 6 spd add a gear add a rod ..a real set are about as much as a Tranny itself..

has anyone talked to charlie blankenship about adopting these rules? if not
i will try, it would be nice to have the same rules across the board as well as having F/X class...we are aready trying to get him to let in all brands
in NSS...hope he does the car count ill go way up...by the way lightning rods would be confusing on a car that has to be clutched every shift ..

My understanding is that he's all caught up with the Hemi/Max Wedge thing and not real NSS. Like Damon's car isn't legal because they didn't make a Max Wedge in 61. My car didn't use to be legal -- for the same reason.
I know they're trying to do a Sunday only thing for NSS -- but when a Saturday Max Wedge / Hemi race was rained out -- they bumped the NSS on Sunday for it. That would have pissed me off had I made the trip. While I'm a Mopar guy -- I think NSS has to be all inclusive. I won NSS one year at a Ford FE National meet, and Dallas won NMC two FE Nats. The Monster and the FE Nats have the right concept of NSS being all makes legal.
However, to answer your question -- I know that Doug Duell works very closely with Blankenship and I believe they adopt those rules for Sunday NSS races.
I hadn't heard what they're going to do in 2009. I know they were concerned with attendance and canceled one of the events.
