DUMPSTERThis is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. While they'll most likely not be moved out out of the dumpster -- those posted to will gain a short reprieve of a month or two. Obviously no threads are to be started in this forum.
Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
Draw back with a CDL.If you ever get a moving violation with a CDL,you CAN NOT,CAN NOT take defensive driving,or deferred ajudication to have the ticket removed from your record,FEDDOT Law.That applies if your in your car,or truck,it stays on your driving record.

Stude, when I took mine when the CDL was mandated,I found 2 questions on that test at the time the correct answer was totally wrong, and went againt all defensive driving classes I've took to get my defensive driving instructor certification.Yea I tought defensive driving. But I answered like the FEDs wanted, even thought I knew were wrong.....got a 98
Thanks Dan for the additional information. Sounds like I will stick with the pickup/trailer setup. I would surely mess up somehow if I had to get a CDL pay road taxs and stop at all weigh stations. Don't want to spend the Summer making license plates poppaj
Poppa,I checked my CDL handbook, and if the total gross weight is 26,000,or less a Class C CDL is required. At 26,001 a Class B.Now the C&B are required if even a pickup is used in a commercial operation,so keep all names off the pickup, some states will interpet that as a commercial vehicle....."Dage Red" can attest to that,he was nailed for having "Dago Red Racing" on his trailer.
Again the catch is the States, and how bad they need money, that's where all the new bs rules with race car trailers, and toters. The States can set their own rules, and regulations different than FEDDOT,as long as they're not interfering with free flow of commerce
Just my opinion, had you used the bigger box truck with todays bs you would have been required to have the CDL.I know you can rent U-Hauls that big,but I personally never saw on pulled over for a family move, but used as a work truck, have a CDL.
For free flow, the States can set weight, width, height, and lenght for their roads, but can require that you have all the required permits before you enter, and require you to check in at the weigh stations. At the weigh stations they can futher route you as to which highways you can only travel on,get off route $$$.
Thank you Dan, This is really helpful. I have lettering and a phone number on the trailer. I am going to remove it just to be safe as we will be in many different states this year again. Guess we were lucky so far. I am wondering now if it is needed to post the GVW on the trailer? poppaj
With a CDL, don't you also have to keep a log book, and show records of random drug testing? Or is that if you register your vehicle above a certain weight???

Don't confuse ICC (Interstate Commerce Commission) laws with CDL.
