DUMPSTER This is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. While they'll most likely not be moved out out of the dumpster -- those posted to will gain a short reprieve of a month or two. Obviously no threads are to be started in this forum.

OH you're right, but the damn states are lumping both together, then applying to people pulling their race car in,or on a trailer. They've been know to use this excuse..."A race is an event you could possibley earn money,or a profit from",and you crossed a state line to do so.

Then,as you know, apply any logo on the trailer as a "business" like they did Dago in KY,that's lumping together.

Take a look here....Interesting discussions about "interstate commerce',and how the states are defining,or trying to interpet.

http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tru...or-no-cdl.html

Just one site of the hundreds out there, and you could spend hours looking up each states laws pertaining to what's required, and defined as the laws apply to hauling a race car.The catch they're using is "you're involved with Interstate Commerce if you pay to enter, win money, and use as a tax write off".So therefore you're subject to that certain states trucking rules pertaining to weight, lenght, and license requirements.

Again all I can say it's a money grab

Dan, you are right on the 26,000 GVW. When I had my tractor trailer shop in Fort Worth, I was the certified DOT inspector. It got a little crazy after a while. Everybody with a pickup and utility trailer(ex. lawn care service) were showing up for DOT inspections. They needed them for both truck and trailer. If the truck had a gasoline engine, they first had to have an emissions test then the DOT inspection.
