DUMPSTERThis is where threads go to die. Old threads are moved here (and displayed in reverse order) before they're forever deleted. While they'll most likely not be moved out out of the dumpster -- those posted to will gain a short reprieve of a month or two. Obviously no threads are to be started in this forum.
Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
In this month's Fastest Street Car magazine -- Doug Duell's Drag'n Wag'n is the cover car.
Since one of my strongest goals is to promote NSS so that more drivers race in it, more fans go to the stands and watch it, more events run it, and drivers receive better purses for winning it -- I'm personally happy to see this exposure.
Doug's father, Dave Duell, built and raced the car prior to his passing. Dave is the man who really got me personally interested in wanting to compete in Nostalgia Super Stock. In Dave's last Monster Mopar Weekend (NSS' biggest race, which Dave Duell was most instrumental in organizing), most everyone knew it would be Dave's last. I was the car in back of Dave's for his last ever pass down the track. I can remember Doug helping his dad into the car and buckling him up, and then the class moving up as each pair of NSS cars made their pass.
It was very surreal as I sat in the water box and watched Dave launch, pulling the wheels up high on Drag'n Wag'n one last time -- as I knew I was watching history being made.
The very next year, the NSS part of the Monster was renamed the "Dave Duell Classic" in his memory, having Doug take over with the organizing and administering to the smooth operation of having so many NSS cars compete. I was proud to be able to win my class in the first DDC.
Doug has since continued to bring honor to Drag'n Wag'n -- most recently winning the 2009 Championship for NSS. Man I wanted to win that class bad (as I'm sure 75 others who competed in it last year also did) -- and while I had some bad luck -- Doug flat out-raced us all last year.
As such, it was very fitting that NMCA put the Drag'n Wag'n on the cover of FSC this month.
Doug has a very close relationship with Indy Cylinder Heads -- so I'm sure it is not a coincidence that ICH is sponsoring the NSS class this year at NMCA. As such, I'm sure there's even more pressure on Doug winning the Championship again in 2010. I'd like to keep him honest by giving him strong competition this year -- but I'm not sure if I'll be making all of the NMCA events, as there are some personal issues that could be standing in my way. I'm going to have to play it by ear, and hope that I both have a good start to the season -- and my circumstances allow for me to make all of the NMCA races.
Thanx to whomever at NMCA was the one who saw to it that a NSS made the cover.
Dave, Thanks for your nice comments about Dad and myself. Im very proud that the largest NSS event is named after my father. I plan on keeping it the best NSS event for all racers. It is so much fun watching 70 plus NSS racer cars line up to try to win this event. I am so ready to race the DragnWagn this year. With my new motor today I went 9.52 at 141 mph. Im ready for B/FX in Bradenton. With the high level of competition in NSS it is going to be tough to win the championship this year but Im going to try real hard. See ya all at the track, Doug Duell
