Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.
Were it me, I'd be on it in a second. But I'm a car guy- & a Ford guy at heart.
You gotta ask yourself some key questions. Will you be doing the repairs yourself or hiring it out? Is it a 2 door or 4? Do you like the bodystyle? Are you interested in driving a classic or just thinking of it as an investment?
Lots of variables involved, but free is always difficult to pass up.
The lady that owned the Torino was going to send it to the car chippers. I don't have the space to store/work on the car. Nor do I have the mechanical acumen or knowledge to do the work myself.
So what I did was talk to a guy I know who restores Model-A's. He introduced me to a fellow who has done a couple of 60's T-Birds. I talked with him and to make a long story short, he is going to do the work to restore the car and I will provide the financing. His thing is doing the work. He is happier than a pig in slop at the prospect of this one.
He always sells the rebuilds he does. When finished, we either sell and split the proceeds or either of us can buy the other out. I expect to have a Torino at the finish.
I am seeing the attorney this morning to get the contract worked up. I have already arranged for a flatbed wrecker to pick the car up at noon today.

My mechanic guy actually works construction. He does restores after hours. He has been extremely busy recently. The company he works for was rushing to finish a job. After the job was finished, he was offered a contract to go to Kwajalein Island for 18 months. I can't fault the guy, he has babies to feed. He signed his interest in the car back to me.
I don't have any place to store the car. I had about a week to find a place for it or send it to the chippers.
I was contacted by a guy who restores and collects Fords. He came and looked at the car. He was pleased at what he saw. He made me a very generous offer. I hemmed and hawed a bit and he upped the offer significantly.
I subtracted the $250. that I had invested and took the balance to the elderly lady who gave me the car. I expect that she needs the money much more than I do.
