Default Attention all texas home owners

FYI: Bills for Additional Homeowners Taxes on a State level (we now pay county and school taxes)
--- Vote Nov. 3rd.

Please send this out to everyone you know that owns their own home!

On November 3rd, there will be Propositions 1, 2, and 3 allowing the State of Texas
to start taxing Residential Homeowners. So if you own a home, and these laws are
passed, you will be taxed by the State.

PLEASE VOTE "NO" to Prop. 2 and 3 (HJR 36)
unless you want to pay taxes to the State also for owning a
home.

Proposition 2: The proposed amendment would appear on the
ballot as follows: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the
legislature to provide for the ad valorem taxation of a residence homestead solely on
the basis of the property's value as a residence homestead".

Proposition 3: The proposed amendment would appear on the
ballot as follows: The constitutional amendment providing the
uniform standards and procedures for the appraisal of
property for ad valor em tax purposes".

Vote Yes on Prop 11.

"The constitutional amendment to prohibit the taking, damaging, or destroying of private property for public use unless the action is for the ownership, use, and enjoyment of the property by the State, a political subdivision of the State, the public at large, or entities granted the power of eminent domain under law or for the elimination of urban blight on a particular parcel of property, but not for certain economic development or enhancement of tax revenue purposes, and to limit the legislature's authority to grant the power of eminent domain to an entity."

Suport include the Texas Farm Bureau, Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Governor David Dewhurts, House Speaker Joe Straus and U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

A newly filed political action committee for Proposition 11, “PAC off! It’s my Land!”, is made up of multiple associates and state leaders that have stated their concerns of the government taking private property. Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Todd Staples is the treasurer of the new political action committee. Staples stated that the group will raise fund and launch a multi-media grassroots and social networking campaign. According to the group, their goal is to ban the taking of private property by eminent domain, and also make a part of the Texas Constitution.

There is a LOT of bad info out there, Including Prop 2. The opponents have started an e-mail chain lying about the amendment.

Dan Patrick has been on the radio every afternoon and at least two or three times a day, he has to explain prop 2 to another caller.

He has a newsletter out going into detail about all of the props to dispell some of the bad info out there. You can download it at the following link.

http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/se...ws-Oct2009.pdf

PLEASE READ IT! Prop 2 is to keep them from taxing your property based on potential value. It is NOT to institute a state tax. The present scam is that they look at your property and can tax it based on what it could be worth.

An example is if you live in an old neighborhood in a good area. Developers come in and buy up some of the old $100k houses and tear them down to build $500k housed in their place. The taxing authority can raise your taxes on your $100k house because of the Potential of a $500k house being built there.

It is happening all over the Houston area with the older neighborhoods especially near the medical district.

The other thing they are doing is raising your residential taxes based on the commercial value of your property if a business was built in it's place. Same secneraio as above old house $100k and they build a new Bar or Store down the street valued at $1M. Suddenly they use that to justify raising your taxes because your property could be worth $$$$ if a business is built on it.

Prop 2 is to prevent them from screwing you based on potential value. It is not for a state wide tax. That is something put out via e-mail chain letters by opponents of the prop.

Please read the newsletter before you vote.
