US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison named Citizens Against Government Waste's "Porker of the Year" runner-up

We don't often pay too much heed to the barrage of finger-pointing press releases from the various camps in the GOP gubernatorial primary, but this one from the Rick Perry re-election camp about oppenent Kay Bailey Hutchison got our attention.

It pointed out that Citizens Against Government Waste -- which annually names the worst pork-barrel spenders of tax money in Congress -- has named Texas' own U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison as 2009 runner up to top "porker" Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass.

Named October’s Porker, the four-term Texas senator claims to be a fiscal conservative, but requested 149 projects worth $1.6 billion for authorization and appropriations bills for fiscal year 2010, exemplifying the tiresome hypocrisy of some members of Congress who claim the badge of fiscal conservatism while continuing to abscond with billions of dollars in pork.
