I picked up a young Army wife at Schofield a couple of hours ago. Going to the airport. Her husband deployed to Afghanistan last night. She was on the way to her home in Dallas for the duration of the deployment. Her husband is also from Dallas.
She told me her husband volunteered for the deployment, with her support. She said he felt that he owed it to the country. He family came to Texas as a legal immigrants from Nicaragua. He was born in Dallas about a year later. She said his family owed much for the opportunity for a better life and he felt that this was a way to begin to repay the debt.
You Texas boys hold your heads a little higher today. You have two of yours, a Soldier and his wife, to be proud of.
