| NSS-Racing.com Nostalgia Drag Racing (Nostalgia Classes) This is now the new official board for NSS-Racing.com -- a site dedicated to Nostalgia Super Stock & Nostalgia Muscle Car Drag Racing. The reason it is hosted by this site, and didn't migrate to www.MoparStyle.com with the rest of the MoPowerStyle sites -- is because this site has forums for other American Cars -- and not just Mopars. | |

| | But would any of y'all guys skip an AHRA race based solely on the No-Index?

I believe it's important for NSS to maintain that uniqueness and be seen as more than regular bracket racing, to have something of that old-time class structure. |
I agree -- and I also feel like it is more difficult to run Class than it is to Bracket Race -- making it a more interesting race, and often rewarding the driver who has acquired that skill. I have worked hard to learn how to race in a NSS car, making Class Racing an advantage for me and Bracket Racing a disadvantage for me personally. So I guess it is both NSS tradition (which I generally resist changes to) and advantage, which makes me prefer Class Racing. Again, it most likely won't ever be a deal breaker for me -- but it certainly isn't my preference.
My guess is that those who have the preference with Bracket Racing -- have done or do more Bracket Racing than Class Racing -- and the reverse being so for the drivers who mainly run NSS. | | | | Junior Member | | Join Date: Nov 2008

| | I voted for the NSS Index style racing. What I like the most about NSS racing is qualifying or time trials on Friday/Saturday and going straight to elimanations on Sunday without a time trial. | | | | Junior Member | | Join Date: Nov 2008

| | Index/Dail in I vote index. If i go to a dail in race its because of convenence to me, i.e. travel time, distance, costs ect. its a second choice. The largest and most successful NSS race, Monster Mopar, has index and class racing. Back in the day NMCA and NSCA had class on Sat. with rewards and then Sun. eliminations like Monster still does. Why tamper with a proven format? | | | | HMFIC | | Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: SE Texas Age: 54

| | Dallas and I gave a lot of thought on if we'd run our two cars in the NMCA series this year -- or the 5-race series that has KC, St. Louis, Iowa, and Cordova. While NMCA is a little further and the bracket racers has us wait all day between rounds -- one of the big considerations causing us to try them again this year is the preference for Class racing format.
When clicking on the number of votes to see who voted -- I noticed that two of the three who don't care attend many more bracket races than NSS races, and the third is a 422 guy. I've not seen any of the three race at a NMCA event, and only one of them once at the Monster. So it looks like how you vote is based on the racing you do more of. As of yet -- not one of the 17 who have voted says they prefer Bracket. | | | | Trouble Maker | | Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: On the Outside, Looking in...

| | Yea I never said I prefer bracket style racing, I understand why y'all want to stick with what you normally race. To me the question was more aimed at "would you skip a race because it was bracket?"
I see where a Index racer would have an advantage over a bracket racer in an Index Race but see no advantage a bracket racer would have over an index racer in a bracket race.
To me it wouldn't matter, I'll race either and would just like to see more races with NSS style rules and cars near me. I hate going to a bracket race and run late model cars, trucks and motorcycles. I'll run NSS or NMC, my car is legal for both, I just wish there was more races near my area. It's hard when you still work (you know what i mean) and have kids to travel to race for 3-5 days for each race. To throw something else out there, I really never even look at the payout. I have heard guys state that some races the payout isnt enough for them to attend. I really never even ask if there is one and would probably even attend a race if the winner only got the $10.00 plastic trophy. To me, It's just the fun of racing that counts.

| | I,ll agree and anyone I ever talked too will say the best race is a good old HEADS UP. The only time I bracket race is at an all pontiac event like The Tri Power National @ Norwalk. I live 5 mi. from a dragstrip and never go but will drive 600mi. to the MONSTER MOPAR. 1 vote for index | | | | Junior Member | | Join Date: Dec 2008

| | INDEX FOR ME. BUT! 1/4 not 1/2 seconds between. ill put my 2 cents worth in for what its worth. the last time i n/ss raced was the last nsca race.but i do plan on racing again.the nmca does not really appeal to me that much.from what i have heard from people who have been there and read on the net. many feel they could care less about any of the index classes.but im not ruling out going to there races either.i dont really care for the half second indexes either.i would rather have quater second indexes.im building a new car to race but with cost of travel and other things in life long distance trips are not in my future.im lucky that im in ohio and i have many things close to home that i will be able to race my car in. i feel for you guys in texas travel has to cost you guys a fortune.i miss seeing mark, damon and there gang and i swear unless there is a death in my family i will be a monster this year.steve. | | | |
