| NSS-Racing.com Nostalgia Drag Racing (Nostalgia Classes) This is now the new official board for NSS-Racing.com -- a site dedicated to Nostalgia Super Stock & Nostalgia Muscle Car Drag Racing. The reason it is hosted by this site, and didn't migrate to www.MoparStyle.com with the rest of the MoPowerStyle sites -- is because this site has forums for other American Cars -- and not just Mopars. | | | | | HMFIC | | Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: SE Texas Age: 54

| | NSS and AHRA for 2010 After sending a ton of email and making a lot of phone calls to NSS drivers -- I couldn't get near enough people to commit to attend the first AHRA event to warrant them wanting to have an eliminations race this year. All said that they felt like the AHRA and NSS would be a good fit -- but most had a variety of reasons why they wouldn't be attending.
The deal with the AHRA was this year is their "Reunion Tour" to iron out wrinkles and see what classes to include -- and 2011 will be the first Championship year.
The CEO is Troy Moe, and he offered to have trophy races for NSS this year (because of the expected low number) and to maybe include the class next year. I appear to be the wrong person to be handling this -- so if anyone else wants to pick it up from here -- go to the AHRA site for Troy's contact information. I'm backing out with trying to be the one to see the AHRA includes NSS. I found myself in the middle of a Mexican Standoff, where neither side was really willing to commit to make this happen without the other side making the first big move.
I thought the AHRA would be a good fit, as it would ultimately have meant regional championships, and less travel. For me, the only other act in town has the closet track being over 850 miles and most tracks closer to 1400-1600 miles -- so I was very interest.
The NMCA appears like it will be the only act in town for a NSS Championship series of Class racing -- and while it is very expensive to travel so far to every race -- Dallas and I will again give it a shot for 2010. | | | | Super Moderator | | Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: North Texas

| | JMO,but I think some drivers were/are hesitant to hop on a new band wagon, having seen other venues come, and go.Add to that, the current economic situation,I think they are sticking with know venues, and travel expenses being what they are, people are staying closer to home.
I might add, even thought AHRA is a well known name in the 60/70s(I was one of their racers),not many of todays younger drivers know them, and could be hesitant to race with someone they have no knowledge of.It's not easy to get people to change from what they know to something that's new. | | | | Senior Member | | Join Date: Oct 2008
