NSS-Racing.com Nostalgia Drag Racing (Nostalgia Classes) This is now the new official board for NSS-Racing.com -- a site dedicated to Nostalgia Super Stock & Nostalgia Muscle Car Drag Racing. The reason it is hosted by this site, and didn't migrate to www.MoparStyle.com with the rest of the MoPowerStyle sites -- is because this site has forums for other American Cars -- and not just Mopars.

The closest NMCA Event is St. Louis (monster also) -- about 850-900 miles. The longest trip is Zmax -- 1700 miles. Average haul for NMCA is 1300 miles.

all of that said -- I sure wish AHRA would have been popular with NSS drivers and that there could have ultimately been a Regional series.

Default Miles!

More important to me is the timing and dates. If it falls well with my work schedule and nothing else is pressing, I'm good to go. I have raced at West Palm Beach,FL and Grand Bend, Canada in back to back races I think, with a trip to Elkton, Maryland thrown in for good measure. But some time it's hard for me to get away for just a short weekend race like the Monster in St Louis this year. I was barely able to get there Friday in time to get in one pass and had to drive all night to get home for work without any sleep. I don't have a limit, just how it works out.

The monster is 600mi. for me. Milan 2hrs. Will drive straight thru to get there but will find a dog freindly motel on the way home before driving all night(hard time seeing). Was up all night going to the Monster . Pulled into the pits and ran into a cement abutment with my trailer. Am I getting old or cenile or both?

I think ST.Louis is as far as I would want to go. It was close to 1000 miles I believe . I only went there because of all the friends I knew going but I'd go again. I just don't have the time off to make trips to Michigan, Jersey etc. When I am retired and can go some where and race and then spend a couple of days sightseeing and not worry when I'll get back.......I'll be there.

We'll race Bowling Green (NMCA, HRR), Chandler and Monster. We only make a few, long, weekend trips a year. Very involved in Church, we don't miss many Sundays.

AND, I still race for fun...... hype, payout, points, etc don't matter a lot. Been there, done that, it gets to where no one has any fun! Even in bracket racing, Gabe and I only run the footbrake classes. The "big boys" have forgotten how to race and have fun. Too many gadgets, and not as much old fashioned racing.

We'll be filling in the year with bracket and 7.0 index races, a couple of times a month, at local tracks (Gabe does most all the driving). 75 miles is the closest track now that Memphis is a ghost town.

Hope AHRA expands and does NSS (the right way!). Picking up a couple of more races within 300-400 miles would be ideal.

Default Fun

Jimmy I agree with you, you have to keep the fun in it. I always leave home with the idea that I have the same chance to win as anyone. I think you have to do that. I usually do as my car is good, it's the driver (me) that goes wrong. Yes, I'm disappointed after a loss, but I soon get over it if the car was running good and I had a chance. I hate throwing away a good chance at a win, like losing in the 1/4s when you will have a bye to the final, like I did in Atlanta in 2008 aganist Mark by redlighting. Or the same year in Bowling Green at the Good Guys. And a hard loss to take in 2009 was the final at the Monster where I had a little better light and could have run on or under but got to plalying around after I went by Steve and gave it away, but it was going to be close since he was dead on with a .003. That's racing and fun. When you are winning more rounds than you lose, it can't be too bad. I tell you when you go to these local bracket races around here, you better be good. I was at a local track this passed year and they lined up to run and everyone was in the left lane. Like a dummy, I run up in the right and run this Mustang. He had a perfect light and only ran a few thousands over. I had a good light my self, but not perfect. I see why no one wanted to run him. When I left ot go home he had been wearing them out. I find the NMCA or races like the Monster more friendly and fun. I just have a better time than going local.
