Well, I think I've made it clear over the years here that I'm not a Dodge guy. We've had a Plymouth Voyager & a Chrysler Concorde- & thats the limit of my Mopar ownership. The in-laws have had a couple mid-'80s pickups & an Aries I've worked on in the past.
I may be getting a '94 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 360 & auto overdrive. Its got 250K on the clock & needs a timing chain most likely. Its been rode hard & put up wet a few times, but I kinda like a rough ol' truck for my driver. It was one of my father in laws old work trucks, & I'm fixing to put my Silverado & my wifes Silverado up for sale to buy her a Tahoe.
So, any advice/what to look for/ common problems for these Dodges? The 360 isn't original, as its got a Jeep (I think) logo on the cover of the motor. I know Fords & Chebbys, but I'm at a loss when it comes to Ma Mopars creations.......

The only thing I've changed multiple times on my 94 360/3/4ton were water pumps. Working on 3 or 4 now at 243Kmiles.
Mine's all original except for the Transmission which was changed at 170K.
When it was fairly new there was a crack on the weld from the upper control arm to the frame, but they just re welded it and no problems since.
Just normal wear and tear (u joints, etc.). Still have most of the original front suspension parts.
Sounds like it should be a decent truck with a little work, then. What kind of mileage does your get? I'm not expecting much out of a 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive, but I am curious. My 2wd Silverado w/ a 350 only gets 10-12...... without a load.
Maybe a little better, but not by much. Honestly it's Non-oped right now due to California raping us with DMV Fees.
It's sat for about a Month now and your post got me to go out and start it. Didn't even hesitate, barked right up.
Wow a non Cumings Diesel engine! My old 340 was a good engine. I would just look and figure on the normal things. Timing chain is a good idea, I do not know if it is a engine that will have the valves hit the pistons if the chain breaks. Does the FIL know about the engine?.. Either way it is a deal... Do not worry about the mileage. A lot of us have high mileage gas engine trucks. 312 K on my 95 Chevy 3/4 ton 350. Still all original engine and tranny, But the Front suspension is shot.
My sons 98 3/4 ton Dodge is still doing good, but small things like his leather seats and some other inside trim are showing ware. Cumins Diesel.
