US Military Forum This forum contains discussions concerning the US Military. A very high percentage of the active members of this board were proud to have served in the Military, and we will not have their service disrespected with the trolling of Anti-America cowards. Please don't copy and paste any articles from any of the Military Times -- or from any other blog or News site. Likewise, do not post links to those sites either. Instead give a summary of the information you wish to offer -- and then give a keyword list that others can google to reference. I'm sorry that we have to do it this way -- but aggressive ambulance chasing lawyer varmints have nothing better to do then sue blogs and forums.

Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.

I served from 1998 to 2008 as a Field Artillery Fire Direction Controlman ultimately reaching the rank of Sergeant. I started off on the yellow footprints of Parris Island, then to Camp Geiger for MCT, and Fort Sill, Ok for MOS School. First duty station was Camp Lejeune, from there did two deployments to Okinawa. Next moved on to Camp Pendleton and deployed in OIF1. Then back to Okinawa for a bit, then back to Pendleton for and onward to Iraq aagin.

I loved my MOS and the great Marines I worked with. I wasn't fond of Iraq and the time away from loved ones.

When did you serve? US Army 72-75, US Army Reserves 75-95

What was you job classification? Mechanic, from Jeeps to Sheridan and M60 tanks-mostly Sheridans. Later Motor Sgt.

What was the highest rank achieved? SFC E7

Where did you serve? Mostly Ft Lewis, Wash

My military service was one of the best things I ever did. Smartened me up and gave me a base to build on and be successful. Don't know where I would be if I continued down my pre-military path.

Proud to continue the family tradition of serving-
Grandfather-disabled from WWI
Father-Marine-Iwo Jima day 1. My fathers brothers served in WWII, one in the Army and two in the Navy. Two more served in Korea, a Marine and Army. Mother's three brothers were in the Navy during WWII, to include Dan who survived the kamikaze attack on the USS Rodman. Stepfather 100% disabled-Italy WWII. Two aunts husbands-WWII.

Brothers-in-law-Both SeaBees-WWII in Italy and the other in Vietnam Khe Sahn (Bronze Star for heroism)

3 cousins-Vietnam

Brothers-Marine at age 17, another Army at 17 and currently a CSM in the Army Reserves-4 deployments so far (and he is the father of 8. His wife is the real hero). His sons-oldest MP US Army, 2 deployments. Second-Marine-awaiting deployment. Third in ROTC to graduate December.

And my wife-1st LT, Army Medical. I had to salute her!

I am not just proud of my service, but of my whole families!

tbnvie Our country owes much thanks to your family. There are countless families that have served. Yours just personifies what the American family once was. Anymore, I am beginning to have my doubts.

USCG from 79-84

Machinery Tech (MK, a combination of the Navy ratings of: EN, MM, and BT rolled into one)

PO3 (E-4)

Served mostly on the west coast with the exception of school in VA and a tour on the Mississippi river.
Mostly did fisheries patrols on the west coast. (Seen lots of commie fishermen)

Grew up as an Air Force brat around SAC bases.

My Dad served 21 years total; 10 Army and 11 Air Force as a cook. served in 3 conflicts (WW2, Korea, and S.E. Asia) as well as the Cold War.

His Dad's parents came from across the pond as did his wife. My grandfather served in WW1 as an Army Corpral thus making 3 generations of Veterans in my family since crossing the pond.

US Army 1968 - 1970

Ft Ord 1968
Ft Lewis 1968
McChord AFB 1968-1969 (US Army Rep on the Base)
Bear Cat RVN 1969
Long Thanh RVN 1969 1970

Was sent to RVN immediately when I turned down my orders to report to OCS with a tentative training date at Ft Rucker as a helicopter pilot

At Bear Cat I was transferred to the 25th Avn Co as punishment after a "dispute" with a CW3

Volunteered as a doorgunner (67A1F) as soon as I arrived at the 25th Avn Co

Also did a short time as an Air Traffic Controller (relieved because of a "misunderstanding" with a Full Bird)
