US Military ForumThis forum contains discussions concerning the US Military. A very high percentage of the active members of this board were proud to have served in the Military, and we will not have their service disrespected with the trolling of Anti-America cowards.
Please don't copy and paste any articles from any of the Military Times -- or from any other blog or News site. Likewise, do not post links to those sites either. Instead give a summary of the information you wish to offer -- and then give a keyword list that others can google to reference. I'm sorry that we have to do it this way -- but aggressive ambulance chasing lawyer varmints have nothing better to do then sue blogs and forums.
Donations of any size will help to defray the enormous legal costs from a lawsuit filed against the administrator of OldHippie.com, by what many refer to as a "Copyright Troll" law firm, for the posting of a TSA "Pat Down" photo they had bought the copyright rights to, after the photo was posted on this site, and then removed.

What did you like and dislike about your service? I love the discipline of the military and being able to hold people accountable for their actions and being held accountable for mine, I loved the way the military entrusts you with millions of dollars of high-tech vehicles and equipment, as opposed to the way in the civilian while working for people who have never left their home state act like it's a big deal to let you work on a $50,000 CNC machine.. LOL. I loved the travel and seeing the other countries I was able to visit while overseas. I loved the brotherhood. I love the feeling of pride when I put on the uniform knowing that I was responsible for people having the freedoms they enjoyed, even if I only played a minscule part. I gave 8 years of my life to it, and I don't generally regret it unless our elected officials are refusing to enforce our laws, i.e. illegal immigration and homosexual marriage. In times such as those, I lament my service. I'm a fierce patriot when it comes to the America of the past, but I'm not so sure I can be proud of the America we're turning into, or that I'd even fight for it, especially of Obama gets elected.

Where did you serve? Poitier, France and Worms, Germany (De Gaulle booted us)
What did you like and dislike about your service?
Poitier, France was a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Wonderful amounts of history and wine vineyards to visit. The people sucked.
After we where booted from France, we moved to Worms, Germany on the Rhein River. Again, great history and sites to see. Got myself a little Simca car in Germany. Found out soon that they tend to build the system in a circle. Start out in one spot and drive an hour without making a turn and end up where you started.
I remember this bridge on Rhien the river well. There where large club boats that ran up and down the river from town to town. We would hope a few down the river and then hope them back up the river. Great way to party.
My favorite times where going to the Grand Prix races at the Hockenheimring and the Nurembergring. Nuremberg was like 14 mile long track, took them a bit to get around it. I mainly remember the Ford GT40s running there.
At Hockenheim, I was standing at the turn that Jimmy Clark went throught the trees at about 180mph and was killed. A kid ran across the track in front of him and he was trying to avoid and did, but lost his life for it. The tracks where not fenced off at the time.
I also remember the Shelby Mustangs running at Hockenheim. They would come ripping down the straights into the turns, and get passed by all the small european cars, then rip back by them all on the straight again.
Europe was a great time. I could go on a long time.

I loved it, should have made it a career; just too young and hot headed at the time.
One of the two proudest acheivments of my life.
