Judge Andrew Napolitano is not a Dan Rather. I have read one of his books, I believe he is a reputable reporter and I would be very disapointed if he aired a BS story.

It's still stupid to respond in a way that brings attention to yourself, which is what this person did. A lot of people with a badge have some sort of superiority complex going on. It's better just to leave them alone and move on.

Oh man do i agree with you. That would probably make things worse, but hey instead of just answering not knowing if its legal, how about, let us find out first whether the answer are legally required so we dont have to rely on asking the officer if its legally required.

I mean, maybe just do some research so we dont end up in that position.

actually i have one of those cheap free phones from verizon, They flip, and they are like 50 bucks with a 50 dollar rebate ones, i've had phone like these fore years, ALL OF THEM have this little button on the side, that has a picture of a microphone, if you press it it will start recording ,whether you open the phone or not.

So i think its pretty common, especially beacuse I'm not using an Iphone or anything expensive, im just using the cheapest phone, cus i dont need aynthign fancy just something that works. But is Does have a button you can just press to record, until pretty much you press it again to stop or if you run out of memory, Mine lasts pretty long, i've never really gone all the way to the end so i dont know, but its certaintly enough for most of my recording needs.
